It's time to get up!

As we turn a new chapter in life by rolling into a new year we set goals and resolutions of who we want to become. We strive to shape our lives for the purpose of satisfying either ourselves or others. "New Year New Me!" Seldom do we as Christians recognize that we can do more than just go to the gym, give up chocolate, or even pursue a new career. While all of these things are great and will make us healthier and may help us achieve a better balance in our life, God has called us to do more.

Why do we not make resolutions to change our behavior and just be more kind and loving to each other? Why do we make resolutions that we wont commit to after two months cause we won't see the results quick enough? We should also learn to commit to things that will leave this world a little better and have a lasting impact on our relationship with God.

For example, why don't we ever open up our time to spend it with Him more? Why don't we make a resolution of spending more time in prayer not just for ourselves, but for our loved ones, for those who are lost and homeless, for those who just need a little touch of God, for our beautiful country that keeps us free, and importantly for our own spiritual and physical health.

This is the year that we need to follow the song "Get up in Jesus Name" by Gordon Mote. 2019 is the year of your victory and the year you make a difference in the lives of your family and friends lives. God's always looking for an army of soldiers willing to battle the hardships and evil of this world. He just needs you to step out of the pew, step out from behind your desk at work, get up off of the couch, step away from the tv, put down the cell phone, and go out and help those who are struggling to find the light in this dark would.

You may say well this past year was terrible, why would this one be any different. I would say to you that we serve a God who has overcome it all and holds the keys to every victory in his hand. He makes a way where there seems to be no way and He alone provides light that no darkness can overcome. You are a child of the Most High and daughters and sons of a King! So take up your light, polish your armor and get up in Jesus name!!
